Investors share their industry expertise and Triage outcomes are either "declined", "request further information" or "move to the next phase." During the Triage approximately 25% of companies move ahead in the process, while the others receive feedback, investor questions, due diligence issues and advice on next steps. If you are an accredited investor, come down to the competition and take part in the Investor Triage!IoT enables business model innovations that you may not even be considering yet. Over the past decade we have seen technology evolution accelerate at an unprecedented pace. New platforms, new solutions—even entirely new business models—are emerging so fast that it’s no wonder it’s so difficult for today’s start up businesses to keep up. And at the center of it all? The cloud….a term so overused and over-hyped that you can ask 10 different people what it is and get 10 different answers.
We'll unpack the core challenges that plague today’s new businesses and present real-world, actionable examples of businesses like yours that have leveraged Cloud IaaS to:
· Overcome the limitations of a small IT staff—in terms of numbers and technology savvy
· Reduce the cost and logistics associated with hardware acquisition
· Improve IT Governance & Control
· Deliver unprecedented flexibility & scale
· Make affordable business continuity a reality
The film was made by Egyptian-American film director Jehane Noujaim and American documentary filmmaker Chris Hegedus. Noujaim had been Kaleil Tuzman's Harvard classmate and began filming Tuzman as he quit his job at Goldman Sachs, to begin govWorks with his high school friend Tom Herman. Noujaim contacted Chris Hegedus and D. A. Pennebaker for help in financing the project. The film was distributed by Artisan Entertainment (which was later acquired by Lions Gate Entertainment).
The film was shot in digital video. The filmmakers shot for over two years, and were editing the more than 400 hours of video and film right up to theirSundance Film Festival premiere in early 2001. They re-edited the last few minutes of the film just prior to its May 2001 theatrical release.
Since the release of the film, Tom Herman and Kaleil Isaza Tuzman have worked together at Recognition Group and JumpTV.[1][2]
Being an entrepreneur is all about taking risks and that means that failure is likely a part of the experience. Simply knowing that that doesn’t make it any easier, but learning why failure is downright AWESOME, does.

Ever Wanted to be an Angel Investor?
As a part of the Fort Collins Startup Week, Rockies Venture Club (RVC) is condensing this 2 and a half hour workshop into one dynamic hour filled with valuable content for those that are looking to make smart investment decisions in startup companies. This hour will be lead by Peter Adams, MBA, Execution Director RVC.
Angel Investors are popping up all over the place and getting involved in Colorado's thriving startup economy. Angels are making great returns on their investments while also making connections, learning about cutting edge technologies, and giving back to the community by sharing expertise.
Angel investors who are part of an angel group don't technically need to know anything about the process since they can rely on the expertise of other "lead" investors. Smart angels will take the time to learn about the process and how to evaluate a deal, even if it's with the help of others. RVC Angels decide for themselves which deals they want to participate in and having the tools and perspective to make smart decisions is always a good idea!
This workshop is open to anyone interested in Angel Investing regardless of whether you are currently an accredited investor or not. Entrepreneurs and non-members are welcome to register. Graduates of this workshop who are accredited investors are eligible to attend RVCs monthly Angel Groups in Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins.
In honor of the recent and sudden passing of #FCSW collaborator Peter Johnson of VanHeyst Group, this event on May 28th from 4p-8pm is networking, free beer, an expo of dozens of early stage companies, and public celebration of the life of one of the greatest connectors in Colorado history.
Come meet hundreds of local entrepreneurs, demo their ideas, mingle with angels and vc's all while eating from FoCo foodtrucks and drinking the best craft suds or llocal distilled liquors NoCo has to offer. The 15,000sf (indoor/outdoor) LaunchPad morphs at 4:30pm into a social and convivial paradise of innovation, demos and networking madness (aka "FUN")Rockies Venture Club will be supplying an Investor Triage in coordination with the CSU Blue Ocean Enterprises Challenge for both the Collegiate and Enterprise competition this year!

The answer to this question is complicated. First of all, finding companies that are worth investing in takes a lot of work. The national average for companies that get VC or angel funding in incredibly low. Angel groups help source these deals and bring the companies to a central location. Secondly, making sure that a company is worth investing in takes a lot of time. In fact it has been shown that the probability of getting a positive return on an investment is maximized when close to 40 hours our due diligence are preformed on a company. That is a lot time for one person to preform on one company! This is where angel groups step in. A large group of investors can share in this process and together they can make smarter investments that are much more likely to succeed.
